This video by Mike Haley (link is provided), demonstrating a Royal Everlast MRY8300 all-metal upright and a Royal Lexon canister, prompts me to recount: what do you guys remember about getting two new vacuums for the price of one?

For example, in 1987, a person who had a Royal all-metal upright demonstrated in his home - and then bought it - could also get a free Royal Prince or Dirt Devil hand vacuum or Dirt Devil Can Vac canister vacuum, among others. In 1995, if one person bought a Royal Classic 3000 upright, he would also get a free Dirt Devil hand vac with his purchase.

A pretty good demo-never seen Royal vacuums demoed like that. Please note the new metal uprights are built in China.already a vacuum repair place here has reported problems of broken handle forks-this didn't happen with the US ones.I was always under the impression that Royal vacuums were a DEALER machine-you went to the deaelrship for a demo and purchase. Its too bad they can't include the older METAL Royal Pony style canister machine that has a BAG.I have one of those Royal bagless hand vacuums-the metal Prince and Dirt Devils are better-becuase of the throw out bags instead to the messy dust cups.-and the pleated filters that clog and you have to clean them or replace them.At one old Royal dealer I remember-he demoed them by putting a plastic wand on the floor.Next he used the Royal vacuum to pull and roll the wand peice on the floor-then he "challenged" another vacuum to take the wand peice from the Royal-None in his store could do it-including Kirbys.Intead of the "Forever" bag he shows-just use the paper throw out ones-less messy. And he could have showed how rugged the Royal metal fan is opposed to the plastic ones.

Ben, that was really fun to watch!! I would say that Mike is a great salesman! I didn't realize that Royals were sold through home demo's.
