Just picked up these two from an Ebay auction. Got the two for £6.50 and collected them from twenty miles away.

They both work and are in reasonable condition. I cannot find the model number on either of them hence I can't date them accurately.

The Senior has a broken cable hook on the top and the bottom one has been glued at some stage.

I can't work out how to get the light cover of the Senior off to change the bulb. I have tentatively tried to prize it off and got one side out but didn't want to damage it. Is there a way of getting behind to change the bulb or a trick to getting the front plastic cover off?

Hi Al

Hi Aled, Hope your pleased with your two new vacs.
To get to the bulb on the senior/ranger cleaner there are two screws on the underside of the vacuum cleaner. One on each side. Once you unscrew them the whole hood comes off and then you have free access to the light bulb.

Hope this helps you. Welcome to the site:o)

Yes the same ones from Bristol. I can't believe they were so cheap.

Thanks James for the advice re the hood. I've found the screws and removed it. Also found the serial number U400240306350. I think that would make it 1984?

Typically when I'd finished cleaning it up and put it back together the back wheel has fallen off. The little washer that holds it on has disappeared so some improvisation will be required now.

Nope - 1974 I believe.

The Serial number for that Ranger was on the listing though, that's how I dated it on the eBay thread.

1974...

Same age as me then.

I hadn't seen the thread sorry.

Anyway, they're both looking a little cleaner now and the light works too. The old Junior 119 is not on its own in the cupboard any more.

Wow you got that Ranger looking almost new!

Congratulations on your £3.25 purchase. I spent £30 on my '77 Ranger U4014 which, granted, is in brand new condition, but yours isn't far off!
