Not just a wannabe, Alex, it IS a TP2. In the same way that those JMB/Dirt Devil uprights are Contours. Only difference with this is that it has a floating head.

Well, Dirt Devil also had their own version - and I had one for a while. There are notable differences - they are built on the Hoover TP2 series but they are not identical, though they use the same dust bags and filters as Hoover.
There were quite a few models - the Blue model from Bloomberg features 1100 watt motor and fixed suction. It was known as the "Bull" model.
There were three Dirt Devil models; DD6000, DD6100 and DD6012 - the red model I used to own. Dirt Devil did them in dark green or bright red colour.
The brush rolls are not Hoover activators but rather just generic smooth brush rolls without the agitator tufts built in and can't be used with Hoover's brush bars as the side mounts are different. Thus, in turn it does not use Hoover's own drive belt.
The red model I had featured piston bag valve indicator and a rather handy variable suction slider set at the top at the front. As Chris says rightly, they had no manual height adjusters but I rather liked that as it made gliding very light. The back wheels however was bulkier, making the hood rise up a bit too high for under table cleaning.
Although they sounded like a Hoover TP2 with the obviously similar motor, the back wheels were much thicker and better made. That however was the only plus point - the tools were Hoover copies but not very well made whilst the built in hose was also similar, but very glossy.
