I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on the history of the Turbocat Turbine Nozzle, which is produced by H-P Products. I know the nozzle was the replacement to the T-21 nozzle, but I know that also came under different names. Any information on the companion tool, the RugRat, would also be helpful.

I used the turbocat on a back pack vacuum. It seemed to work well on commercial carpets and track off mats.

I haven't used it on plush carpet. The brushes on them don't portrude past the rug guard very far and it does take a lot of air flow to opperate it. A central vacuum will have enough air flow. The rug rat is the same as the turbine attachament for the Heratage model kirby. The rug rat is ok performer but again it takes alot of air flow to make it work well. It was ok on the kirby but not as good as the newer zip brush. I have both attachaments and like the zip brush much better.

The turbo cat has a small air path and alot of things can get caught in them. Small paper clips or a popcorn seed will go thru but not anything much larger than either of those.

I would stick with an electic power head. No loss of aggitation from the carpet being cleanined due to lack of air flow and the air path openings are the same size as the wands attached to the nozzle. No loss of good air flow. Also the turbocat is a very light weight attachament and may not aways make good contact with the floor like a heavier mortorized tool.

my dad's house had one of those. took it apart once to figure out why the brush wasn't spinning good and ended up loosing a bunch of parts, so he was forced to go to electric.
