This little 4 tube Cathedral Philco JR. model 80 ( 1932-33 ) radio was saved from a house fire many, many years ago, now. I just found it the other day while returning from a Christmas party.  The owner of the antique shop conveyed this story to me, and I tend to agree with her, on account of the heavy soot and slight charring which was all over it.  It had no power, but tubes tested good. After I re-stuffed the tar blocks and cleaned the tube sockets, it now works fairly well, even still, it needs a whole lot more work. After a little sanding and some veneer replacement, it should be a nice looking little radio.

Cool find!

I love the look of those radios. I've only been able to find the reproduction junk ones tho. But it's nice to see that one has been saved instead of being thrown out. :)
