Trash find Cleartrack

I’ve never picked up a vacuum out of the trash before but the other day I was driving past the dumpster in my apartment complex and I noticed that there where two vacuums sitting by the dumpster, one of which I recognized as an Amway Cleartrack. I drove back around rescued them both. The other was a bissel, which I normally wouldn’t bother with but it was there for the taken so I threw it in. I don’t know what the story was on the Amway, it was extraordinarily clean and in good shape. The filter tray was missing, the belt was broken, and it wound up having a pretty good clog but was otherwise in fantastic shape. The bissel also had a broken belt and was kinda smutzy, but cleaned up very nicely.

You did good repairing both of them. I know the bissell isn't the greatest looking vacuum but I really like the style you have. It solid performing vacuum. The amway I have only read about. There good vacuums actually really great performance.
It's funny a broken belt or clogged hoses they just throw them out.

I was actually surprised by the bisselI, I do like the color with the splash of green and it picked up a surprising amount of soil. From what I understand about the Amway it was actually manufactured by bissell for Amway using stolen patents from James Dyson. It is a very solid well built machine and cleans quite well. If only Bissell would produce vacuums with that kind of build quality under their own name. I would say almost 95% of the used vacuums I pick up need simple maintenance to get running again. Rather than getting fixed people just toss em, oh well more for me!

I like the colors on the Bissell too. They have some pretty nice color schemes.

The Amway Cleartrak is still being made, if you weren't aware, under the name Workhorse.

This is actually my 2nd clear track, I got my 1st one at a thrift shop several years ago. It also was missing the filter tray. I ordered the filter tray and a maintenance kit which included a foam filter, 5 micro filters and 3 belts from the Workhorse site. They sell both new and refurbished vacuums under the Workhorse name now, and they pretty much have a replacement part for every piece of the vacuum. The new models anyways carry a silver rating by the CRI.

The Cleartrak is one of the greatest bagless vacuums - a lot of carpet cleaning companies use them and pay their full retail price. I have one too I got at Goodwill in 2013 but have not fixed it up yet. I keep forgetting I have it, lol

The Bissell Powerforce Helix Turbo is actually a very great vacuum as well - has almost 5 star ratings on Walmart.com. It's also a $90 vacuum with taxes. So you got a hell of a deal there! It came out 5 years ago in 2016, so it's not all that new but not all that old either. Even if you don't want it, you can shine it up and give it a good wash and make some $ on it to fix up the ClearTrak.

I love my ClearTrak. At first I was convinced that they were junk, I was totally wrong when I got mine. Shortly after I bought this one from a collector, I found one at my local thrift store. I ended up not getting it mainly because I don't need to have two of the exact same machines for my collection. I was glad that I didn't but at the same time, I also regretted not getting it because I just really like them so much. But I do plan on getting another one, only it will be the Workhorse version this time. I'm betting they changed the name from ClearTrak to Workhorse in the first place because of licensing issues from Amway. I'm also betting that it got the silver rating instead of gold from CRI because it doesn't have that many layers of filtration. None of the less, this is still my top recommended bagless upright on the market as of today.
