Hi,

I have a working Kirby 512 with its original bag and hose (nothing else) that I would like to trade for an original Kirby 560 bag and boxes (I have some attachments but not the original Kabinet).

I don't have a camera right now to post pics, but let me know if you are interested and able to trade, and I'll get get some pics taken and sent.

Yes, I am willing to sell it without a trade. Send me an email with your offer (plus s/h from Minnesota). Keep in mind that I would want enough to cover the cost of a 560 bag and cabinet when I find them--that was my reason for getting it.

I do want to let you know that it needs a good cleaning (inside and out)--it has some white mineral deposits on the motor casing and rug nozzle, and the motor should probably be cleaned and lubricated, Its other noticeable flaws include: possible fading of the bag (it's light gray) and some spotty discoloration which may be permanent, the cord has electrical tape by the hanger (but it works), the light bulb is burned out so I'm unsure if the socket is good, the floodlight hood trim is torn at the front corners, and the tab on the belt lifter is broken off. It does have a musty smell (which doesn't bother me, because imo it adds to its vintage character, but a gentle cleaning with Woolite should take care of it).

Just the same, I took it in to a Kirby service shop today, and the technician said the motor sounded fine. It runs well and has a newer (silver) brush roll and an extra belt (the previous owner had it cleverly stored on the Sani-Emtor's neck).

Features which appear original compared to the 510 manual I downloaded from Kirby.com and eBay listings:

1) black hand grip and wheels

2) gray cord, rug nozzle trim, and Sani-Emtor cover

3) red cap for Sweet-Aire air deodorant

4) bag (no observable tears, and the silk screening is in fairly good shape)

5) the hose appears to be original and in fairly good shape--it is light gray with dark gray, red and cream (off white) tracers

It also has a floor polisher attachment in the original box.

Let me know if you want more information.

Email me with an offer, please.

I think it is a good cleaner, but I am not big into Kirby. I just have the two that I remember from my youth--my parents' DS50 and my aunt & uncle's 560.

If I were collecting Kirbys, I'd have no problem investing some time and money into it to get it back to near-new shape.

Here are the previous owner's photos:
