Well I can safely say I've never seen a brush roll so dirty!
You've done a great job of cleaning it up though, you should be proud.
I know how good I felt when I cleaned up my Dyson DC04 which was (if it is possible) in even worse condition than that one. At least the brush roll was clean except for a few threads though.
