Hi Guys,
Are convertibles good for cleaning this type of carpet or are they better on low pile carpeting? Anyone had any experience vacuuming with the plastic convertibles on thick carpeting? does it still get deep down grit? just curious.

And yes it will, just crank that right hand pedal all the way to the floor!

Any classic Eureka fan-first upright will also clean shag well... Adjust the Dial-a-Nap or Rugulator to the proper height and you are good to go.

The Hoover Convertibles with the 4 height adjustments work great with thick shag carpet, the Hoovers with 2 height adjustments were too hard to push on thick shag. We tried to use it on the high setting because we didn't think it was getting all the dirt up and we found out we couldn't push it due to the strong suction it has. It did also good on that kind of low carpet with the rubber backing on it (i'm talking about carpet that was installed in 1970. We got the Hoover (U4009) at J.M. Fields for $75 and the blue one without the light was alot less with a shorter cord. That was my experience, hope this helps. Mark
