Actually that is the Big

That is the big. The Little Green Machine was flippin microscopic! In it's heyday, the Big Green wasn't a bad machine....probably one of the better ones......then along came the Hoover SteamVac and it was history!

Big Green

Looks very close to the 90's model Kenmore "turtle" carpet cleaner that my mom had we also bought the motorized scrubber head that went with it, it was a pain in the @$$ since you had to wrap the cord all around the hose . I remember me looking at Hoover Steam Vacs at Sears when we went to get it and thats what I was trying to get mom to get but you know Sears sales people. I still remember my dad saying "I guess we will just put this in Mikes room!" It had the tank in tank system and did a decently good job. I don't remember if my mom used the dry cleaning function other than the time we got it and wanted to see what it was all about. I remember it being loud and we used it often for about 5 or 6 years then it started falling apart. First the motor started getting louder and grindy then the pump switch on the hose went then I think she just tossed it.

The big one

Is a pain I hated it. Its huge and cumbersome I do not remember how I obtained it but it was always used as the car carpet cleaner and was banned to the garage.

I think alot of people bought the Big Green Clean Machine because of the infomercial. To show the suction power of the cleaner, they had a guy suspended over a dunk tank for the entire duration of the program. I used to catch it on early mornings before school sometimes.

Why this sticks out in my mind but.....

Wasn't the hostesses name on the infomercial for the "original" BIG Green Clean Machine Mary Ellen Pinkerton? She was on there with that "all-purpose" infomercial guy, whose been in like 7 other infomercials also. His name escapes me....???

She used to give goofy, and somewhat informative tips during the infomercial, becasue I believe that; she had written some books on cleaning, and was a "Heloise" of sorts.

the only thing I remember about her was the fact that she stated:

"ever want to get the rest of the drips of catsup or other bottled food products out of the bottle????".

I remember thinking "well maybe sometimes that would be useful"??

She stated: Tighten or close the cap well. Grab hold of it by the bottom, and swing it around (making a circle in front of her), and see what you've found"!!!!!!

Everything else seems blurry....LOL

You have a good memory indeed, Chad. It WAS Mary Ellen Pinkerton along with Joe Farago. He's now doing an infomercial with Cathy Mitchell for the GT Xpress101, a sort of updated George Foreman grill.
