My vacuum collecting bug has pretty much sat dormant for 2.5 years so about 3 weeks ago the bug bit again and I started looking for something new to add to my collection! I ended up settling on a Panasonic Performance Plus Platinum upright (MC-UG583)..........

.........THEN One thing led to another, and I found a deal on a reconditioned Dyson DC17 Animal, Then the Silver Windtunnel on the Hoover site went on sale, and lastly I found a brand new Windtunnel S/P Anniversary on sale for the best price I've ever seen. You guys know how it always starts out as "just one"!

My opinions of the machines:

My overall favorite is the Panasonic, I just love the build quality, the decent noise level (and tone of the machine), and cleaning ability. When I first got it I wanted to buy a bunch more and hoard them, then came to my senses and realized I don't need to do that this thing will last me a very long time!

The DC17, I've always hated Dyson's, I still honestly don't know what came over me when I decided to get it, but I love it! I agree with all the claims about them being THE bagless to get if you want bagless (my collection is mostly bagged machines so this was perfect for me) The cleaning power is excellent, nothing at all like the beaten up DC07 I was given a few years ago.

As for the Windtunnels', I've always wanted a S/P and non S/P, preferably North Canton models but strangely, as ubiquitous as they are they are nearly impossible to find in my area for sale, so I settled on two new Mexican made machines, which are still not dramatically changed from the originals. (Only change that drives me batty is the higher pitched motor they put in them now, it's deafening)
When I finally come across some North Canton Windtunnels I will consider selling them to people who need a decent, powerful cleaner.

My favorite of the two is the S/P of course, I love the color, it digs deeper into the carpets, and the powerdrive is fun to play with!
