The Panasonic MC-UL915 & MC-UL910 Jetspin Cyclonic Vacuums

I have a weak spot for stupid big, ghee-gawed up, McMansion dwelling plastic vacs like these Pannys. I have noticed Panasonic has a number of them on the market right now, too many to keep track of actually. I found some good info on these two similar models so i am posting it here. This vacuum (model# MC-UL910) is the newer cousin of the red Jetspin (model# MC-UL915)Panasonic Jetspin Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner, Red Metallic, MC-UL915. They are basically the same vacuum with a few design changes. The newer white one has a few less features than the red one: no dirt sensor; no overload protection button on the base; no belt saver feature; no bonus floor brush; 30ft cord instead of 35ft, and although they both have an "easy bare floor" switch that turns off the agitator brush, the newer one does not automatically turn of the agitator while it is in the full upright position. If it were not for this last missing feature, I would have gave it 5 stars. I am unsure if there is a weight difference, the newer one weighs 20 lbs while the red one says it weighs both 20 lbs and 25.5 lbs in its descriptions both on the Amazon website and on Panasonic.com's. When I called Panasonic to speak with someone about the differences before ordering, the Panasonic person was unsure and no help really. Both are made in Mexico, have the Good Housekeeping Seal and have a limited 1 year warranty. The suction is really powerful and the pick-up is great, the dirt cup is easy to empty, the quick draw wand is awesome while the base unit remains completely stable and does not tip over. The hose is thick and seems durable as does the rest of the unit. It is a little heavy and noisy but feels substanial and well made. I paid $55 less for this unit vs. the cheapest price I could find for the red one and I consider it an outstanding value for around the $100 mark.

Clever machine, the unboxing is always the most fun part! Betting that cyclone assembly and washable filter will see lots of cleaning after, just a guess.
