I'd always thought that was the earliest Torrington(second pic), as I heard it was a lot different from the following two, and made of tin. Plus the logo is similar. I have been doing a lot of research on obscure early vacs lately, such as the Sloane and Magic, would you mind if I saved your pic to my device?
Here are some more pics, and one of the Muenzen Specialty ads(1915-1919, this one is from 1919) mentioning the Thor.
I know this is off topic, but: I got your email. I no longer have that Penncrest. Sadly, it went to another collector. I didn't want to not respond to you.
Thanks.
That could be... I know Hurley Thor made Washing Machines. That was their primary business. Offering a vacuum makes total sense. I have not seen another one in the wild before.
I just picked up both a Torrington and a Hurley Thor in the same week. Weird timing.. but they’re going to be stunning when theyre finished!
WOW!!!!
Let me know which direction the fan screw turns on the Torrington when you finish it, I am taking mine apart for a rebuild and don't want to strip it.
I miss seeing stuff like these for sale. People in vegas just don't seem to have old stuff. Have never seen an antique vacuum outside of a collectors setup I picked up.
