Hi Folks...
I noticed some recent discussion of the true deep cleaning abilities of an Electrolux Canister. Here are my personal thoughts...
Picture it...Chicago, 1955. (My I sound like Estelle Getty right there) A young Couple is going to be married, and the Soon-to-be-wife receives an amazing wedding present, a Brand New Electrolux Model 61/LXi Canister. Featuring a swing open Cord Winder and an air driven Floor Polisher.
This was a gift my (Paternal) Grandmother received. In fact, she loved it so dearly it was regularly used until it's untimely demise in 2002. The cord was severely cut in multiple places. Down to bare wire. Combine that with a nice sized puddle on a kitchen floor...
My Grandmother LOVED Electrolux Vacuum Sweepers. She had SO many of them. My favorite quote from her is "If it doesnt say Electrolux on the side DONT LET IT IN THE DAMN HOUSE!"
1962...A Turquoise Trimmed Electrolux hospital G and PN-1 Arrive in my grandmother's living room. The LXi is now the upstairs vacuum. She had the Hospital G until 2007. My grandparents were moving to an Apartment and it was brought along. The ride in a pickup bed left it without rear wheels and the rear filter...and then in the Dumpster. I was Devastated...
1971...She Buys a 1205 and PN-2. This one is still in use, my uncle uses it to clean the showroom at his store in Chicago. I rebuilt the motor this past summer, and replaced the hose. He adores it.
1987...My grandmother adds a Diamond Jubilee and white PN-5 to the fleet. This is my Aunt's daily Driver to this day.
1991...The purchase of an Electrolux Diplomat LX. This one was pitched 2 years back when the hose collapsed. My uncle had it.
1992...an Epic 6000 becomes her final Lx. The VERY last to be sold by her former dealer, who was retiring. This one is with my Cousin. She wont part with it!!
After all these, she had 2 Kenmore Uprights, and a Hoover Upright. I still have the Hoover, and one Kenmore.
Just my 2 cents...These were the BEST vacuums out there. They still are
Andy
