FINALLY

Got the bag done!

(Sorry about the pony-related thread drift lol)

After many months of badgering my T-shirt guy, finally went there today and he had it done. Got a slice of pizza from him, too. He had made the screen originally well over a month ago, and when I went there and we started test printing, we found the screen had a defect. So I had to wait for him to make another one. Went there today expecting to have to cajole him into printing it, and he had already done it on his lonesome! Guy is real busy these days, only printing logos on face masks, go figure. Anyhow here it is. Honestly, the position of the logo is not perfect, though I also gave him my first-attempt black bag to practice on, and good thing too, cuz he screwed it up lol. I can't complain, really, he insisted I don't pay him for this print (though to be fair, I've helped him with many things already). Still, I think it turned out alright. Maybe whenever I get my sewing machine back (lent it to a friend), I'll make a couple more bags for the heck of it.

I constructed the bag exactly as the original, including the little dirt pocket (A Clements patent, btw :3 ) which I sort of upgraded by folding over the cut edges of the pocket fabric so that they don't unravel after use. The bead for the bag clip I made by sewing over an old flat shoe lace - in my first-attempt bag, I used a folded-over strip of fabric that was too hard to handle and wound up being too thick. The logo I made by putting the original bag on a flatbed scanner and recreating it in Photoshop, to measurements physically taken from the bag. Admittedly, not 100% perfect as I had mistakenly given the A's a little slant on the left side thing sticking out. I had designed the logo before I had bought the handheld vac with the pristine bag, so I couldn't tell. Looks better this way, anyway.

Original bag on the left, pristine handheld bag on the right for comparison. The fabric is obviously a much darker brown than it should be, but is the closest in terms of both color and weave that I can find. It's a bit too lightweight though. But damn, that logo looks good.

What's not to like?

This is a great thread, and your first. The videos were as good as I've ever seen, the work done was top notch, and that bag,can we talk? Lucky are the people whose cars you work on, so for what it's worth, I'm really impressed, Kudos MadMan!

Nice

Nice job on the bags. Impressive with the wheels. I reread the thread again.
Cool thread.
