I got this today, all in one piece with the box. Just my favorite brand of flashlight and battery. This is a 1950 Eveready flashlight, alas, I can see in the dark once again! I can't wait for the Forth of July, it will go well with Black Cat and Baw Baw Black Sheep...go get'em  Pappy Boyington!!!

I hate to say, some of them do. You can't have them anywhere around your AM radio, when it's turned on. All you'll hear is a symphonic static symphony coming from your LED flashlight. Boy, things are just getting better all the time, now! That's one reason why I got an old one.

I am guilty-prefer the LED bulbs. They don't burn out so easily and give the batteries a longer run time. The interference is due to the driver in the light that drives the bulb. Most are switching--they "chop" the batteries DC into a square wave "AC" to give longer battery life and more consistent light output.Plus it allows for dimming the light or making it blink or flash preprogrammed "codes"Often in flashlights the incandescent bulb is "overvoltted" to give more light and whiter color light.Of course this increases the chance of bulb burnout. The same was done with halogen flashlight bulbs.I use a LED flashlight when I have to work on the transmitters.I use my HID "Barnburner" portable lights when I do outside security checks.Don't know if the HID bulbs cuase radio interference. The bulb is the same thing used in car HID headlights. The ballasts for these use switching supplies in them.-4 things-converts the battery DC to square wave AC-steps up the battery voltage to start and run the bulb, regulates the voltage so the bulb brightness is correct and constant.

On the CandlePower forums they often call large hand held spotlight type lights "Barnburners" becuase of their VERY high light output. The HID lights I have-imagine a HID car headlight you can hold in your hand! One of mine is more powerful than a HID car light. Its a Polarion "Abyss" dive light.4500 lumens vs 3500 lumens for a HID car light. For most portable light fans the Polarion lights are considered the best. They have rechargeable battery packs. They can run up to two hrs.The Polarions have machined metal housings-and preciesly focused bulbs.

You are welcome-Us vac collectors sometimes collect more than just vacuum cleaners.I have a collection of portable lights and HID AC powered ones. For those that like to collect sodium or mercury streetlights-when LED ones are installed-the collectors can get the old lights! Are there others on here that collect lamps or lights of any sort?
