Mix-n-Match...
I just love how one can mix and match parts from pre-G Kirbys, and while the resulting 'frankenKirby' may not be exactly "right" in a purist's eyes, it doesn't necessarily look "wrong", and can add functionality not originally available at the time of a particular machine's manufacture.
I've done the same bag conversion on a Classic III and two Heritage 1HD's. The Classic III and one of the Heritages were done to eliminate disgusting shakeout bags. I just hate 'em! The other Heritage '84 was simply a matter of not having enough strength in my hands to stretch the spring at the bottom of the bag enough to reinstall the original emptor and fill tube assembly, so instead, I gutted a Heritage II bag I had for spares. The plastic H2/L2 mini emptor slides into place very easily from inside the bag, whereas the bulkier metal emptor won't go into place that way. I would still love to put the original emptor and fill tube back onto my H84, if for no other reason than to be able to use up my existing supply of Style 2 bags. Once those were used up, I'd swap out the inner bag connector at the top of the fill tube to be able to use the same modern style bags as all of my other Kirbys.
