IIRC...

There was some really big news years ago on the old forum about the "Haley's Comet" vacuum cleaner. I do not remember all the specifics, and although I feel it's a rip off of the Compact or Revelation brand of cleaners....I do remember the jingle that was I believe printed on the inside lid of every cleaner...

"Haley's Comet"- the age of space, the rocket race, push button leisure day. Be SURE to clean your jet-set home...the "Haley"s Comet" way.....

And look what appeared on fleabay......

What was so special about this vacuum cleaner. And...does any collector have one in their possession. Besides it being a relatively uncommon little bugger, did it work at all well, and werent all the attachments done up in gold like the wands and floor nozzle...

I guess in summary...what's the "Close history:" about this little guy...

Thanks

Chad

I do apologise...

....for the duplicate posts. My wireless was being weird earlier when I typed this up about the Haley's, and I thought that it did NOT post...so I struck the send key again....

I have a small idea for these forums. I understand that there is a built in safety for the posts to NOT duplicate. I have seen it before if you post repeat things too fast.

However, would there be any way to program in a "erase" or "cancel post" button, so if you decided that you did not like what you wrote, or had second thoughts, or duplicated a post...you could erase it yourselves instead of waiting for the webmaster to do it.

It comes as no surprise that many people here could have used that "cancel post" or "delete" option here many times after a rant, or after making a fool of themselves, or duplicating a post. To give one the ability to erase their own work, and thoughts; it would make it just a twinge better, and not radically change or alter the winning formula already established here...

This "idea" is just THAT ...an idea. This is the only thing that would make a welcome change to me.....How about any of you...

I don't want any flack, or sniping from anyone about this. I do REPEAT..it's JUST an "idea". I'm not interested in changing or seeing the site change in any way. It just seems that it makes sense to allow people to erase or, change their posts later, if they wanted to a'la Facebook or MySpace.

And for the last time...everyone, it's just an idea. One I personally feel has merit and potential to just make things easier for the webmaster , and better for us.

Chad,

That is a terrific idea. I post on another message board related to my work, and they have edit and delete functions.

One time I posted there and the computer was being kind of "funky" and I ended up posting the same thing 5 times! Luckily I was able to delete the four extra posts. The edit function is great too for those pesky typos.

I hope you don't think I was insulting you when I posted above about the duplicate. I was kidding and basically trying to convey that I thought the vacuum was doubly ugly. But ugly isn't always a bad thing, I would take that one home in a second if I found it in a thrift shop.

Hi Debbie.....

Well,

IMHO I do think it a "terrific idea" also, but as of now...it's just that..and idea.

I do understand working with computers that making a change like that in a program like the one that controls the workings of this site takes considerable time and effort. And that said "idea" may never make it to the "advanced" stage because time is very precious for all.

I hope that either Robert or Fred or whomever has the controls likes it enough to make it so.

As stated, the forum is fine as is, the "idea" again just a thought from my little midset that could make it even better IMHO...If it doesn't cause a major headache in the reprogramming to make that option so....

Robert and Fred, is this an "idea", "worth" pursuing?
