Taking apart a Dyson DC 41

Hello, I really don't post much but thought I would show some of the vacuum restorations that I'm working on. I do a lot of Hoover, Eureka and Dyson tear downs and restorations. Thought it might be fun to show some of this stuff. I'm going to start off with a Dyson DC 41 that I got off of Ebay for cheap. This thing was a real mess, with a lot of hair in the brush roll, dirty cyclone and what not. I decided to completely tear it apart as I wanted to see how these ball vacuums are put together. This is the vacuum as I got it.

Cleaning the brush roll

Some photos of the cleaning head with brush roll. Look at all the hair! Am amazed that people let stuff get like this! Hair was jammed all the way to the end caps. The clear cleaning heads on the new Dyson's tends to cloud-up pretty quickly from dirt and sand in the carpet, so after I wash it out I just spay the inside with some Krylon clear coat paint. It's not perfect but it does the trick to make them clear again.

Dirty DC 41 cyclone

Here's the Cyclone and bin. Bin was so clouded that I just bought a new on Ebay. You can see that the motor filter doesn't seem to be doing it's job as there's a lot of dust on the inner part going right to the motor. I have many Dyson's and the clear bins on the older ones don't cloud as much as the newer stuff.

Here's the Dyson all cleaned and ready for assembly. Next photo is the empty casing, then the motor, motor cover, outer casing, more crap and some switch detail.

Finally done!

Just finished putting the Dyson all back together. I ordered a new clear bin which took awhile to arrive. I have it shown with it's original purple cyclone assembly and the with a blue cyclone assembly that I had laying around. I kind of like it better with the blue one.

What caught my eye was not the Dyson vacuum cleaner-but the transmitting tubes on the coffee table.The shorter one we use here as a lower level stage in our Continental 420A transmitters-a pair of those in push-pull supplies 5Kw of RF drive to the 250Kw power amp stages.The taller tube appears to be a pulse modulator tube used in radar transmitters.Provided the HV pulses to the magnetron tube.We have several new 4-1000 tubes here.Old ones are in many of the admin staffs offices.They are even "cooler" when lit and operating!The 100W filament puts out a nice glow and the plate glows dull red when the tube is normally loaded.Will be using one of those CEMCO transmitters in the morning.I have also dealt with AM transmitters -2.5 Kw that use 4-1000 tubes-PA and modulator.Another 5Kw AM I used had a pair of 4-1000 as the modulators.Glowed nicely under full modulation.125% mod one of the tubes glows more-the positive side.
