Super Rare Gold Kirby on eBay!!

These are extremely rare and this one looks like it's never been used and he's asking less than the price of a new one! They only make a couple dozen a year at most and they are only given to their top distributors as an award at their conference. This would be the prize jewel of any collection, if only I could afford it...

They're not that rare really, and they're not actually gold plated, they're anodized, meaning they have a form of dye applied to the metal to give it a gold colour, and then lacquered to prevent it corroding...

Holy crap theres a Kirby ComVac on there too. What is that? I've never heard of that before. Price is steep, but probably worth it.

The ComVacs were their attempt at a Commercial Vacuum (hence ComVac), looking at that one, I've never seen that design before, but usually they have a nozzle that is bolted on (not removable in the same manner as regular Kirbys), and of course are painted, not shined...

I have to say that's a pretty unusual model, based on what I guess is the Heritage (the other Comvacs are based on a Sanitronic), looks to have a huge bag, a different power switch location, a different scuffplate (where the power cable and switch would normally go), and even a handle lock, that's pretty darned unusual for a Kirby... :S

Was given to Distributors/Dealers with the highest sales.

This one is not a G6 BTW, it's a UG.

There were two breeds of the ComVac in the 1982-84 period:

The CVD1300 is the one that is based on the Sanitronic, due to the 13" wide nozzle.

The CVD1600 is the one that is based on the Classic and later Kirby models, for it has a 16" wide nozzle.

More ComVac CVD1600 Tidbits

On the back of the motor where the motor switch and female cord attachment would be on the consumer models, there is a height chart which determines the proper position of the adjuster to match the carpet type.

1, 2 - indoor/outdoor (bare floor)
3, 4 - plush/sculptured (short pile)
5, 6 - short shag (medium pile)
7, 8 - shag (deep pile)

The label also proclaims that if the cleaner is hard to push on setting #1, adjust the screw under the ratchet pedal.

On top of this label is the old-style warning decal used on the Classic Omega and Classic III, except the word WARNING is not bolded.

Gold kirbys are not that rare. Its harder to find 505 era machines than them. I have seen more gold kirbys than original early 500 machines.

Comvacs are a little more unusual in my mind.

There was the comvac 2300 and 2800 too.
