very interesting

All I could think about while reading to promo is, It's a
throw back to the 1920's Air Way, completely new but will
it make it in a big way!!!

Very interesting Leslie, thanks so much for sharing that with us. This could be a great idea taking shape.

It is an interesting machine-but the effects of UVC light on organisms-to destroy them takes longer than "seconds" as the manufacturer says-It could take several minutes.remember the discussions several months back about the Kirby vacuums equipped with the UV lamps and selling for THOUSANDS of dollars? This one is less expensive.Wonder if the machine is equipped with a safety switch to allow the UV lamps to operate only when the vac nozzle is on the floor.Did the 1920's AirWay vacuums have UV lights on them?the Halo vacuum would be an interesting addition to any vacuum collection.

Here is an email from the manufacturer

Hi...I actually work for Halo - I'm the Web Guru ("Web Content Manager" is my real title) over here. Nice to meet you, I'm Ashleigh McHenry. :) I saw a thread on our Vacuum on your site (“Something new”) and wanted to respond, but I cannot.

The Halo UVX (the vacuum we have out right now) DOES work in only seconds. We did our homework, and engineered a bulb chamber with a certain wattage of bulb, and a certain reflectivity of the chamber in which the bulb is encased, to create the exact amount of UV-C light to kill organisms with regular vacuuming (I believe that is something like 235.7 nanometers).

The doctor who pretty much started the technology for hospitals and water purification over 50 years ago, Dr. James R. Bolton, designed the chamber with us and invested significantly in our use of the technology. And through independent studies from the Ohio State University and University of Arizona tested our exact bulb chamber in their labs and submitted reports to various organizations and associations regarding the validity of our claims - and that our vacuum, used as intended - kills the organisms described on our website - and in effect, can have an effect on allergies and asthma.

If anyone there at Vacuumland has any questions about the Halo line of products, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected]. I am happy to answer any questions. I might encourage you to read our website in depth as well. There is a lot of great information on there, whether you are interested in buying one or not. I hope to hear from you soon if anyone would like more information. If you could post this to that thread, I’d really appreciate it! We’re here to help!

Thanks!
Ashleigh

Very good customer service, if you ask me! That's the way to advertise right there! :-D It makes sense to me on how it works. It'd also be cool if there was a UV light in the bag chamber. THAT'D work great! Anyways...I don't think I can get one any time soon...
