This is not even a beginning to how many saws we own! Just a small start in showing a glimpse into my obsession! Ha ha! There ya go Alex! Pictures of Phyllis! She's the very first saw picture I listed! She's a 1960's Sears H58 Direct Drive saw! I will be restoring her back to her original glory sometime in the future! The shelf of saws are 8 out of 11 Mr. Poppets! The "Mr. Poppets" are 1960's Sears D44's ranging from lightweights, automatic oilers, a power sharp, and I have a rare gear drive D44 not in this picture. I have 3 more that are floating about our property! Ha ha! The next shelf of saws are 3 of my electrics that Sammy so kindly put up on his shelf for me! The first is a Remington Limb N' Trim from the 1970's, the middle is probably either 1970's or 1980's Craftsman, and the last is a brand new Remington Limb N' Trim that my husband bought me for my birthday last year. The orange one is named Dinky, given to me by a friend, the Craftsman is new and doesn't have a name yet, got him at a flea market, and the new black Remington is named Blinky. Blinky is the first new saw I've ever gotten that I actually cut with! I mostly get saws to just look at! Ha Ha! Then I have pictures of 2 outta 11 Mr. Poppets with dear old Phyllis! The D44's were just a regular saw for the homeowner to use whereas Phyllis and Lord Poppet were made for more of the serious arborist for logging. The pretty light blue Mr. Poppet is the same one in my avatar! He was my very first saw ever! You all will see his pretty rainbow sticker! Ha Ha! Next, is a picture of lime green (original paint color) 1960's Sears H58 gear drive "Lord Poppet". He has a 32 inch bar on him! We got him off of EBay. He was in a Nevada dessert junk yard for years! We couldn't even see if he had compression because his cylinder was full of sand! Sammy spent a very long time getting him clean and running! Sammy bought him for me for Christmas a few years back. Now the difference between Phyllis and Lord Poppet is how their bars are turned. A direct drive saw means that the engine turns the bar, and a gear drive means that the engine turns gears then the gears turn the bar. Not on all gear drive saws, but we have a few that the engine runs backwards so the gears will run forwards so the bar doesn't spin backwards! It's pretty neat! Had to next show Lord Poppet and Phyllis together since they're related! Ha Ha! Then I have nice pictures of some of my Sears saws all together! BTW, the red D44 is Mr. Poppet 11. I got him off of EBay a few months ago. He just needs a carb rebuild kit and then I'll cut with him! The last picture Sammy caught me off guard because I sitting amongst my babies playing with them and he snapped a photo of me! I will post more chainsaw pictures as soon as I can! Hope you all enjoyed the nice scenery background I did on purpose! Why what else would you do with a Thursday night? Of course take pictures of chainsaws by flowers! Ha ha! :) -Michelle

our poor PHYLLIS!!

Rusted and busted, left to sit for who knows how many years,I can't wait to see her new again, I might have to buy one in years to come, my abandoned dream-house has a crap-ton of trees that need cutting!

That line about floating Mr.Poppets got me thinking, you need chainsaw Christmas ornaments!

How did you acquire that chainsaw with the pretty rainbow sticker? And what's that tattooed on your arm?

I'll looking forward to a restored Phyllis!!

Alex

Phyllis wasn't the one in Nevada, that was Lord Poppet. Now on the other hand, Phyllis probably sat for years neglected too! I got Phyllis from EBay too. Funny you should say chainsaw Christmas ornaments! I'm very good friends with our neighbors. I actually restored a chainsaw for them as a gift! I will find a picture of her and post it on here. Anyways, Deb always gives me homemade cookies for Christmas. So, last year I made her homemade cookies and went to deliver them to her and low and behold she had a present for me! Her husband John had found it at Sears. She wanted me to open it and it was a Craftsman chainsaw ornament! It now goes on the very center of my tree! I acquired Mr. Popppet 1 from a friend. Actually from the same friend that gave me the orange Remington Limb N' Trim! Originally, back before Sammy or I collected and before I cared about chainsaws, his friend gave him a 1960's Lombard Comango and the 1960's Sears D44 (Mr.Poppet) to him. Sammy has always liked saws and he had one, a 1965 Homelite XL12 that he had restored for himself back in the 90's. So, then we had 3. Well he used to keep the Lombard and the Homelite together and the Sears was in the corner by itself upside down! Mind you, I didn't know or care about chainsaws yet! So, I just one day asked him why that saw couldn't be with the rest? He told me he didn't really care for it's styling and basically didn't think much about it really. With that, I told him that I wanted it and I wanted it to be restored! Sammy was kinda intrigued that I wanted it, but I'm not an average person to begin with, so he said ok I'll show you how you would restore this. I helped a little on the restoration process, but he did most of it. Back then I didn't know anything about the internal structures of a carburetor or how to tear a saw apart much less! He needs to be repainted again, the clear we used on him was crap! The rainbow was something I thought he needed to have! I'm actually going to put rainbows on all of them! Can you be more specific on which tattoo??? Ha Ha! I have Mr. Poppet tattooed on my right hand and on my left hand I have tattooed my other favorite saw a 1974 Homelite 150 named Eggbert (which is the same saw as Lolly.) The first pic is my Mr. Poppet birthday cake that Sammy made me last year! I listed pictures of Lolly! Lolly's bar tip pattern was a design I made up! I did 99% of her by myself. I tore her apart, rebuilt her carb, sanded her down, I applied the primer, I applied the paint, I reassembled her, hand painted the raised Homelite letters, and removed the old black plastic covering on her front handgrip and then hand polished the metal! She was a labor of love, plus her name was a play on John and Deb's last name! Sammy did paint the bar because it was custom and I'm not that skilled yet! Also, he custom made her Lolly sticker too! I have a pic of me with my 1952 Clinton 3A3 I named Tee Pee, a very rare saw that Sammy bought me as an anniversary present a few years back! BTW, all the saws in the background of that pic are all mine! I found a pic of my Mr. Poppet tattoo the same day Sammy did it for me, I was working on my Homelite 240 that was custom painted by us that I named Peachy! The last pic Sammy made to show a side by side of what pic he used and the tattoo. I don't have any pics of my Eggbert! He's not finished yet anyways, he's still in outline form, Sammy hasn't had anytime yet to fill him in with color. :) -Michelle

Those are some real impressive peices of machinery--and Lollie is so beautiful you would hate to cut anything on her!Just use her to admire!!!!The long bar Sears-appears Sears was trying to get into the lumbermans market.Thats usually Stihl,Huskavarna,Echo, and Jonsards territory!Gear drive machines are liked when really thick wood is to be cut--high torque-less bogging down of the motor.Direct drive for speed and thinner wood. Its also like the comparison of Worm drive circular saws vs sidewinder higher speed saws. After seeing these-would like to do some sawing, too!!!I like another collectors serious machinery!!!

Do you know???

Who made Sears saws, Daddy had a 58 David Bradley I wish I had now!!We had a dealer in my hometown who sold Lancaster and Lombard, My Uncle still has 2 Lombard Lightnings that I would put up against any of these new Stihls and Huskys...except they are quiet and it will deafen you!!....And he bought one of the Lombards new in the early 60s!

kenkart

Sears saws are Ropers with Tecumseh engines. I have a 1957 Lancaster 200A Nifty that is left-handed! It's a very rare saw! His name is Chicken Foot! We do indeed love those Lombards! We have quite a few! :) -Michelle
