You guessed it.  A company based in China.  Here's the news link.  For those of you who don't know, Smithfeild is the company that markets hams, especially around Easter, wrapped in a blue foil wrapper.  Their celebrity spokesperson is Paula Deen.

I saw that on the news last night. As if it weren't bad enough most products we buy now are made in China, now they are going to buy American companies. Not that I ever really bought much Smithfield before, but now for sure I won't.

Smithfeild is the largest pig producer and hog product producer in the US.

In the area where I live hog farmers grow pigs for Smithfeild.
