I have been wanting one of these forever! Finally, I can use it beside a Kenmore version. Well not at the same time.

Along with Hepa bags, I will enjoy using it. The graphics are clear and all there. Bag looks great. So far, all looks great. It will still need cleaning and disinfecting.

Score!

Thanks,

It is dusty undeath and towards the back of the hood (maybe a leak?), but the rest looks really nice. I wonder if my bag is original. Singer experts?

I wonder if it or the Kenmore is noisier?

No, you’re not missing anything. Here are the undersides of two of mine. I can see why you might think that because of the extra screw holes.

Make sure the clamp that secures the bag is tight. Probably could add some weather striping if the original foam has worn off. Where the bag connects to the base.

I would say the bag is probably original. They made so many variants of those. I have a few brochures with different bag designs, amps, colors etc.

Every one of those I’ve had/have. Has been dirty on the bottom of the base like you described. I think it was just the design of those. Nice! Score!

I just got one of those from Bob at Mr. Fix-It in Aurora for $2. It does need a set of fans, but there's a seller on eBay who still has them. I'll post pictures of the old fans once the new ones come in. If you need belts, you can use Hoover 38528-040 or 38528-027 which is the belt that the Elite/Legacy uprights used. One of the suction chambers on mine was completely clogged as well.

Thanks Kenny and Mike,

I consider all members who help as my heroes. I know, kinda corny.

Kenny, I had wondered based on how open the brushrll area is. I am used to some sort of cover that has guides.

Mike, I saw a couple of fans, and noted that they were for the right hand. Maybe someone has a left-hand fan. Reminds me of that joke about someone wanting a left-hand adjustable wrench from the Quartermaster, and having it handed back to the worker's left hand. As in the movie, Swingshift.

Now, where do you suppose an extra brushroll can be purchased? There supposedly was a different brand that used the same roll.

Here's a link to the fans I ordered. They came today and I installed them. What a huge difference. You can also see the clogged suction chamber on the right side.

In regards to the brushroll, you're probably referring to the Powr-Flite machine that came after this. I've only seen one picture of that vacuum and I can't seem to find it anymore. A brushroll from a Kenmore twin fan unit should fit as well. You can unscrew the screw holding in one endcap to remove the hair and oil the bushing if it's making noise. I use 3in1 oil in the blue bottle.

Let me know if you want assistance with servicing that brushroll and I'll do my best to help you out

Mike

Just for fun

I checked an old 1990/91 Best Merchandise Catalogue to see if they had your model Singer or something close. The model SST450 comes closest. 6amp twin turbo,7pc.attachments,4 carpet height adj.,20ft.cord,headlight and edge cleaning.Shipping weight was 17 lbs. Price (SRP) 99.95

The outer bag looks the same except the vertical stripe is blue and has a thinner red stripe along side it. The bag style is listed as Sub 1. Happy for you! Billy
