Electrolux introduced the cord winder in late 1948, or early 1949, along with the ride-on tool holder called the 'companion,' Garment-air bag,' and 'Power polisher.' They also introduced white bristles to the bare floor brush and dusting brush for delicate surfaces like wallpaper, or lampshades. Pictured below are the patents associated with these optional tools. But Electrolux was not the first company to introduce the cord winder, that honor goes to Air-way. I cannot locate the patent, but it goes back to the mid 1920's.
