Hi all,
Just to let you know that I've heard on the grapevine that SEBO have finally released 3 layer micro-filtrete fleece synthetic dust bags. Code 5093AM They currently cost £8-95 FOR 8 and are available from SEBO UK:

Also SEBO in Germany are working on Eco vacuums at the moment in light of the legislation coming in and will have a few updates soon.

They reduced the box size from 10 to 8, and you cant get the old fashioned type bags now unless you buy a service box, which I have no doubt will be changed to the filters plus 8 synthetic bags in due course.

I think they should still offer the choice of standard bags in a 10 box, or the synthetic bags in an 8 box.

I've still got loads of bags left, but looks like I'm going to have to upgrade. I don't know how much of a difference they will make in the X series, but they certainly improved airflow on the Felix, so much so that the suction barely drops as the bag fills.

Looking forward to seeing what Sebo bring out in the near future.

Also Amazon UK sell the 10 bags per box. £6-18 cheaper than JL!

The experimental fleece ones that SEBO sent me in the early stages turned out that ONE bag just went on for about 6 months! I was shocked. What's more, they were so floppy that they could be vacuumed out and used again! Amazon UK link for the old paper dust bags BTW.

Once old stocks of the paper bags are gone that's it - the new 8 pack are also code 5093ER according to the sebo website that you linked to, so the 8 packs have now replaced the old 10 packs. Just like Miele reducing the boxes from 5 to 4 bags and charging the same for them.

I have 2 boxes full of the paper bags for my X Series but hardly use it, so they will last ages.

Strange how Sebo still sell the paper bags when you buy the service box (filters + 10 paper bags) 5094ER

Thanks for the SEBO update Ryan thats great to hear about the new bags for the X series. I do love the new fleece synthetic bags for my Felix over the paper ones. Better airflow even on medium to low power settings. The seem to fill up and hold more and compress the dirt/dust more over the paper ones!

Look forward to hearing and seeing what SEBO do with regards to these new Eco vacuums they are working on. I wonder if they will design new models or redesign/modify existing ones! Watch this space I guess.

Good to know, I say bring 'em on. I can understand why some would feel dropping from 10 bags per pack to 8 would seem like a bit of a swizz, but in my experience synthetic bags have far greater usable capacity and last much longer between changes. Comparing costs alone you will at least receive equal, and very likely greater, value from the new style bags. And that's before you even take into account the improved airflow, filtration and bag strength.

My D2 cylinder uses the Ultra Bag, and because they can be filled to capacity, I only get through four bags per year. A box of eight costs £12 directly from Sebo and will last me two years. That's 50p a month, or less than a couple of pennies per day. There are plenty of expenditures I can get uptight over, but this is not one of them.

For the benefit of Steve and others...

Email received from SEBO UK this morning.

"...The Service Box will change, but we will continue with the brown paper bags wrapped in polythene bags..."

Happy now?

Also the cost of synthetic dust bags vs paper is expensive. Having 8 is enough I think, at this stage.

Cost of Synthetic bags vs paper-keep in mind ONE synthetic bag can hold MORE dirt than like 2 paper bags! The paper bags clog faster-don't have as good filtration, and can burst. For one Synthetic bag you may end up using 2-3 paper ones.So the synthetic bags end up being CHEAPER-IE Kirby,Meile,Sebo and others-Riccar as well.It almost doesn't make sense to pair a high performance vacuum to a POOR performance paper bag!The synthetic bags have won me over!

I agree, but also thinking about other brands - Numatic offer HEPA FLO bags which are synthetic and I recall they were a few short compared to the paper dust bags. Its a pity Vax didn't offer the same with their tub vacs as this would prolong owners with their canister tub models for dry suction dirt. I used to use a reusable fabric dust bag in my old Vax tub as the suction was so strong it would often tear the paper bags apart.

I know of the Numatic canister vacs from this site-but not at all famaliar with the Vax "Tub" vacuum-have a picture of one of these-never seen one.Is the Vax Tub vacuum a commercial canister vac like the Numatic? If the Vax is powerful enough to burst paper bags-they should go to Filtrete style bags for that machine-would LOVE to see a Filtrete bag for the PIG!!!I have had a few NSS paper bags burst from the power of the PIG-esp when picking up ash or lots of drywall dust.fortunately the Pig's cloth bag is easily vacuumed out with another machine.

Tolivac...

Before Vax started rebadging TTI bagless uprights, they were originally known for their 3 in 1 tub vacs. They were hugely popular here from the late 80's to the mid-90's but their popularity fizzled out once Dyson hit the market - people moved onto the next gimmick. See link for an advert for the very popular Vax 121.
