Sebo Felix Eco

Why have Sebo gone with a Felix Eco model when the original Felix was still within the new EU regulations? I don't see the need for change.

Because SEBO have always looked far ahead in the future and they are a small private company. They aren't a company to frit away excess money, time and investment.

By 2017, all vacuums will have to have 900 watts max or lower. SEBO are just doing what they can NOW rather than later on. Makes sense. Same with Numatic and their 580 watt vacs.

So why go with a 1000w X4?

Same with dyson. They are companies which know what they are doing, shocking I know. Dyson now have sub 900 watt versions of all their uprights at least, naming the DC41 the DC41 MK2 with a 700watt combined power consumption, and the same for the DC50 AND DC40, both of which are updated, just called the "DC40 2015" according to their website.

In fariness Vax have done a similar thing in going straight for the sub 900 watt motors. Hoover Candy and Bissell, have not, and have replaced many of their 1,800 and 2,000 watt motors with 1,400 watt models.

So how do you think the lower watt sebos will compare to the originals for performance?

Marcus - Eventually an 850 watt model may come out.

The new Evolution commercial upright may provide the basis for a new X between now and 2017.

As for performance - I don't think there will be much of a difference. On the basis that my 15 year old X1 Automatic has 850 watts, there's very little difference between that and the newer models..

Look forward to trying these new SEBO Eco models especially the Felix and X series.

Companies like SEBO are being money savy and investing wisely by doing this they don't have to revisit again in 2017 when the 900 watt limit comes in. Like sebo_fan says SEBO looks far ahead in the future, so it will I think enable them to invest in new designs, technology without reinvesting time and money in having to meet the 2017 requirements in 3 years time with current models.

Give it time maybe the general public will eventually except that lower watt vacuums are just as good as higher watts vacuums (may be not!). Knowing the general public they may eventually see a 1300 watt motor being too high (may be not!), so you could say SEBO meeting the 2017 900 watt limit or lower now could help with promoting the model lineup against other vacuums with lower watt motors.

You dont have to use as much current as a iron to have good performance...a model G Electrolus is proof of that..535 watts!

Yes Kenkart, but we don't get the Electrolux line up, never mind Aerus or other brands in the UK and the EU law that is coming in is lowering watts in vacuums, so it has to be welcomed, even if brands like SEBO have already been making low wattage vacuums since the 1970s.
