Read a really nice thread on this from back 7 years ago.. I found this sucker.. Got her all cleaned up.. Anyway to find a light cover.. And the other question. Is the latch release replaced.. The hose has some cracking.. Everything else looking and acts gold except the missing attachment thing.

It looks to me like

your missing the pre-motor foam filter that would be glued to the under side of the plastic grid like cover over the motor. They were pretty thin and developed holes and tore off with time but it's good to have some protection there because Kenmore's bag seal isn't always the best, my experience anyway.

they didnt have light covers until 1985. that powerhead from 1984 without one is correct
