Husky,
Not to be Mr. Doom and gloom; but never say never.
In the area where I live, we get the occasional tornado watch. I don't know anyone who ever took it seriously, because "it never happens here".
That was until 2011.
I was almost done with my work day as a delivery driver. There were storms in the area, and we were under a tornado watch. Not really in our immediate area though.
All of a sudden, the radio started announcing a tornado warning for our area. Pretty much meaning, it's happening.
I was sitting in a company pickup truck, in a covered loading area, when I saw everyone who had been outside make a mad dash for the building and slam the door behind them.
Within seconds, all kinds of debris started slamming into the side of the building.
In fact, part of the building was destroyed.
Fortunately, no injuries. But, the neighborhood was a wreck. Multiple houses destroyed.
Right across the street, the roof was lifted off a three-story house and thrown against the side of another huge old house, knocking it off its foundation.
Two people were killed right in that neighborhood.
It ended up being an F3 tornado, and traveled for miles, across several towns.
A total of three people were killed by it, but two were right in that neighborhood where I was working.
I don't expect to ever see that happen again. At least, I hope not to. But, I learned not to just dismiss the warnings!
