I think Dirt Devil was one of those cases where the budget line eventually overshadowed the parent, Royal, and has now outlived it, similar to the way Pontiac overshadowed and outlived its parent brand, Oakland. I've had a couple of Dirt Devils over the years, and they were really unimpressive machines. From what I've seen, it's only gotten worse since the TTI takeover. Even if the Dirt Devil brand goes away, we can count on cheap, plasticrap vacs always being with us—kind of like a fungus.
