Samsung lanches new cleaners in the US

I just noticed this yesterday and wanted to share. The upright seems very interesting although I'm not so sure how well it would work in practice with the detachable hand vac. I like how the canister has a dirt sensor.

some fresh thinking. That said it's bulky like my Electrolux Nimble which likes to hit me in the shins if i'm not careful.

great looking dyson copy

I don't like the handheld with the extra motor on the top, but otherwise it is a very nice looking Dyson clone. I hope they are paying a license fee to Dyson for such a copycat design.

As far as I know, Dyson did sue Samsung over the motion sync canister - we've had them in the Uk for a while now, but not the upright version. Dyson lost on this occasion as far as I know, then Samsung tried to sue Dyson over damage to its reputation.


Never known anything like it - everyone suing everyone else, and bitter disputes over copyright.

Interesting design.....

However I can envision a lot of broken handheld vacs due to users letting them drop on that handheld's bin. It also seems to me like it would make the vacuum bulky and difficult to maneuver....perhaps not, but it it looks that way to me. I would like to try one out, but the $500 price tag is enough of a deterrent to stop me from that.....

Looks like Bissell have the same idea with their PROlite® MultiCyclonic Vacuum 17G5.

Samsung and Bissell after all have shared uprights before.

That does look alot like a Dyson (And I say "Dyson" very scarcely, Unless of-course, in the sentence, "Don't buy a *****"!).


I won't be surprised if Dyson tries to sue, I'm sure they would LOVE to get even richer. However, Samsung does have wheels where the "Ball" thingy would go, so the sueing may not go well.


 


Ugh. Will we EVER get something that's American-Made beauty? I do hope so, Some end must come to this throw-away junk once day? right?

I think it will be interesting to see what the reaction is to the upright with the hand vac instead of a hose as nothing like this has been tried in a long, long time. Other than on stick vacuums where this is a common design point.


 


In some ways it seems like a good idea, no stretchy hose to fight you while cleaning and to add bulk to the machine when being used as an upright. On the other hand, realistically how much suction can that hand held provide? How much suction does one need for above the floor cleaning? Is the hand vac balanced well? Is it actually easier to use that a stretch hose? How much weight will that add to the top of the cleaner?


 


On another note, I noticed that the cord passes through the hand vac into the main cleaner. Seems convenient enough but what if that little motor fails before the rest of the machine, will that make the rest of the machine unusable?


I am getting more and more curious about these machines, can't wait to see them in person.
