I’m wondering if anyone could give me some advice, I have a Rug Doctor might pro 3. When I’m using it on my carpets some of the cleaning solution is escaping from the brass coupling at the back of the machine. There’s still dirty water being lifted from the carpet to the recovery tank.

I don’t seem to have this problem when I use the hand tool.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I tried wrapping some plumbers tape round the MALE coupling end to see if that would help but has made no difference. I don’t understand why I’m not having this problem when I attach the hand tool.
Thanks Matt

Can you disconnect the hose from the brass piece?

Then take a picture of the pieces apart?

If it only leaks when it's connected to the floor tool and not the hand tool that perhaps there is a damaged or missing "O" ring.

If it is the insert fitting, it's easy to change and not expensive.

Finding out exactly where the water is coming from is key.

If it's coming from between the fittings than the problem is with them.

If the water is coming from near the clamp or the hose than the fittings are fine.

It could be the shiny aluminum clamp is loose.

You'll need t investigate further to find the exact location the water is coming from.
