I was looking up Hoover Commercial Vacuums today, and I was surprised that I can't find any website for Royal vacuums.

I know the all-metal ones were discontinued but I guess they've stopped making any Royals at all, including the older Hoover designs like the Windtunnel and Tempo under the Royal name as well.

I really wish Hoover still made the Guardsman, as it was the last of the Convertible lineage. And I really liked the Hoover Commercial version of the Decade 80 in both the lime green and red/black as well as the Royal version of it, and now those are gone too!

They did away with the Conquest also.

The only "heritage" model in Hoover's lineup that I'm aware of is the Commercial Portapower. It's the only one keeping Hoover's classic twist-lock style hose and the steel wands with the plastic clips alive, and those classic '80s attachments, including that upholstery nozzle with the rubber "fingers."

I sure hope the Portapower sticks around, because if it's gone, it's the last thing remaining of Hoover "as we knew it"!

It's too bad, some of the other newer Hoover Commercial uprights that I think were VAX designs looked promising too, and I liked that tub style vacuum they had. What happened?? At least they have the Hushtone upright and the Task Vac.

Believe they might make a royal that looks like an oreck. That's quite a contrast as royals had the biggest motors and orecks are pumping out 3.5 amps.

If I remember right, TTI dropped them a couple of years ago. They wanted to focus more on Hoover' commercial line.

You have to remember that before they were dropped, apart from the metal upright, they were all rebadged Hoovers and Orecks.

Kirby

That makes complete sense to me. I actually had one of the Royal uprights for a while. I really didn't care for it.

The problem for Royal is that if you took away the metal upright, it would kind of be like Kirby dropping the Generation series and replacing it with a Hoover Windtunnel. Good vacuum, but just not the same.

It made sense to drop Royal.

Umm

Dropping royal and pumping out orecks. Royal has cannisters and central vacuums and hand vacs that were among the best. Id drop oreck or a number of vacuums before I'd drop royal. It's been dropped and it's sad but innovate or get eaten by the wolves.
