I was looking up Hoover Commercial Vacuums today, and I was surprised that I can't find any website for Royal vacuums.
I know the all-metal ones were discontinued but I guess they've stopped making any Royals at all, including the older Hoover designs like the Windtunnel and Tempo under the Royal name as well.
I really wish Hoover still made the Guardsman, as it was the last of the Convertible lineage. And I really liked the Hoover Commercial version of the Decade 80 in both the lime green and red/black as well as the Royal version of it, and now those are gone too!
They did away with the Conquest also.
The only "heritage" model in Hoover's lineup that I'm aware of is the Commercial Portapower. It's the only one keeping Hoover's classic twist-lock style hose and the steel wands with the plastic clips alive, and those classic '80s attachments, including that upholstery nozzle with the rubber "fingers."
I sure hope the Portapower sticks around, because if it's gone, it's the last thing remaining of Hoover "as we knew it"!
It's too bad, some of the other newer Hoover Commercial uprights that I think were VAX designs looked promising too, and I liked that tub style vacuum they had. What happened?? At least they have the Hushtone upright and the Task Vac.
