Found a Royal Model 157 at Goodwill for $3.45. It had a broken Brush Roll support clip, so a friend found someone who had a stock of them. I bought several and replaced the clip, put the brush roll back in and a new belt. Washed the bag, oiled the bearings and played with it for a while. I don't know if I want to repaint where the paint flaked and wore off.

Adorable little vac there!

It looks to be in VERY nice shape for it's age. Much better than mine was. It seems like these little buggers run forever with proper care- Mitchell
 
Nice find. Glad you found the part you needed to keep it alive. It's amazing how little difference there is between your 157 and my 501. I guess that's a testament to an excellent design. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
