Rexair Model B Main Bearings??

I just recently picked up two old Rexair vacuums, one is a model B and one is a model C. They both run, the C runs great, however the bearings on the B are going bad due to age and moisture. I've been trying to find what little info i can on these things and possible part numbers and was hoping someone out there might be able to give some advice or lead me in the right direction. I'm also not sure if there's just bearings or if there's also bearing seals i need to look for. On the off chance that someone reading this has done this same operation if you might have any advice as to how to go about removing the old bearings, i've got an idea but any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The top bearing is now a 88500
The bottom bearing is now a 88502

When you take the bolt out of the top end of the armature it is a left hand thread. This bolt is a Bearing Retainer Screw

On the lower bearing there is a Bearing Shield and Slinger Ring on each side of the bearing.


If you want the original part numbers (which are most likely no longer valid)

Upper bearing R322DP175
Lower Bearing R321DP175
Bearing Retainer Screw R341DP10
Bearing Shield R146DP03
Slinger Ring R147DP03

When you pull out the armature to remove it from the bearing in the plate, be very sure to lay the fans, spacers, and flats out exactly. The fans, both stationary and revolving, plus the eddy plate and motor housing (with carbon holders and field coil removed) can all go in the dishwasher. Use powder, not liquid or tablet detergent and use the long pots cycle. Will save you from scrubbing by hand. The lower bearing plate, with the lower bearing removed, is also able to be washed in the dishwasher.

Bikerray and Dysonman1 thanks for the info and tips, i've managed to find the lower bearings part number 88502 however im having some difficulty locating the top bearing number 88500 as i'm assuming they were discontinued a while ago. i'll keep my eyes open and make sure to refer back to this when going further in disassembly. Thanks again!

88500 and 88502 are the bearing numbers, not part numbers, you will see those numbers on the side of the bearing.

A New Departure bearing will have the number 88500 K.
The lower bearing may be a NDH bearing which would have a number of 3202 BG.

If you go to your local bearing shop and ask for an 88500 and 88502 they will know what bearings you need.

The 88500 should be about $8.50 and the 88502 should be about $9.50

Bikerray, thanks for the info, that helps a lot. believe it or not i have never had to order bearings like this for any previous project so this whole ordeal is relatively new to me. None the less thanks for the info as i believe ive managed to locate the correct ones.

Oh, and one more question i have on these old rexair vacuums, which might be a shot in the dark. I have the tank gasket for my model b and it's in fairly decent shape, however the one for my model c is missing and i was just curious if there were any good way to replace that or if i'm just SOL on that one haha.
