Replacing Oreck handle

Hi, all.
My in-laws have an Oreck Elevate Command, Model UK30200.
Just maybe a couple of months ago, they had it in the shop to replace the top handle, which had broken off. Well...it happened again. I know my MIL is very rough with things, and admits that she picks it up by the top handle, instead of the somewhat more durable handle further down.
What I'm wondering is if anyone has ever replaced the upper handle on one of these.
I see that there's two wires that go into the handle. Is there any chance that they just plug in, or are they actually hard wired in somehow?
If they just plug in, I'd be willing to get a handle from eBay or something, and replace it for them. But, I don't mess with wiring; even stuff that others might consider simple.

Both cords are directly wired to a circuit board that contains the power switch. I can't remember if the board slides through the handle or if you have to disconnect the cords. I haven't done one in a few months, so my memory isn't the best. I can take some pictures on Tuesday of a unit in the shop if that helps.

What I do remember is that the handle comes as two seperate components. There's the front bezel and the handle itself. MAKE SURE you purchase BOTH parts. There's a seller on eBay who sells both parts as a kit. If your cord hook is damaged, that has to be replaced on its own as well. I will agree that those handles are pretty flimsy.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd be interested in seeing pictures.
Normally, I don't touch wiring. But, if it doesn't seem too complicated, I might give it a shot.
It would help if I saw pictures, so I'd have an idea what to expect before I try to get into it and find that I'm in over my head.
