Dear All,

I'm a 21-year-old male who grew up with a serious itch for household appliances, especially vacuums. I ripped through many of those operable "Dirt Devil" toy vacuums, and raided closets for the real deal when we visited family friends. The anecdote in our house goes that when the nice Kirby salesman came to our door, I actually persuaded my mother to purchase the G5. Needless to say, she seldom used it, never used the attachments, nor the shampoo system. I recently unearthed him, ran the attachments through the dishwasher, and shampooed our carpet for the first time. I want to purchase the other accessory systems, but some parts are discontinued, and I want to make sure they aren't obsolete:

1. "The Miracle Waxer"-- There was a roller waxer applicator for this, now discontinued. I know of standalone wax, but what's the best method of application out of a tub of wax?

2. "Floor Care System: Buffer + Carpet Fluffer"-- Will the buffer nozzle and brush from any other model also work? Also, is the same wax buffing brush used to fluff carpet?

3. "Turbo Accessory System"-- The polishing pad (lamb wool), scouring pad (webbed nylon), and massage pads (soft vinyl) are all discontinued. Can I just buy my own material, cut to size, and attach to tool, or will it not fit?

Much thanks.

Hi Stephan,

Welcome to the forum. I have done some searching for the items you have listed. I had no luck finding the waxer applicator.  It is now obsolete. But i Have found the Turbo accessory and it looks like you can order the pads separately. Here's the link:

Here's the link for the floor buffer and yes this can also be used as a carpet fluffer, just make sure you clean off any wax residue before you fluff your carpets:

Kirby's accessories have remained largely unchanged since the introduction of the G3, although some have evolved a bit. The biggest challenge may be finding them in the color you need. Burgundy was unique to the G5. Just about all of my accessories are in G6 black or G4 charcoal. As I've restored my G5, it's taken on a custom color scheme, incorporating the light gray common to both the Ultimate G (aka G7) and G3. This was not the result of any sort of master plan but rather finding parts in that color at well below market price and placing function over form. The aesthetics that evolved out of that process ended up being not half bad.
