This is basically the Canadian version of the early American Model G. I'll never forget the first time I saw one way back in 1992 when Stan Kann and I went to see "The Yard of a Thousand Vacuum Cleaners" and there was one there.
It was so strange-looking! It seemed like a vacuum cleaner from another dimension!! The way the front is turned sideways*, the way the rear-end hinges opens to contain a filter, the XXX-style attachments, the telecsoping wand ... it all just looked so WEIRD!!
Anyway, this one is in remarkable condition. It's a bit dinged up but it's 100% all original including the hose, and that makes it a really special find.
And you want to talk about sheer power! As Hans Craig would say, "It'll peel dry paint right off the wall!" But at the same time, it's incredibly quiet -- even quieter than the Model G because of the rear filter.
I'd take it in a heartbeat were I not trying to keep paring my collection down to "the essentials." I do have its younger sister, the 89, a metallic misty green color that I really love. Got it from our Canadian brother Doug Smith quite a few years ago. I hope one of us collectors gets it and it doesn't go to someone who will use it in their garage to clean out their car.
These are truly wonderful Electroluxes!
-------
* The American LX's front was turned sideways, but then when the E came out it was turned around 90 degrees and remained that way until the 1205 when it went back sideways again and has remained that way since (except for the Model L).
