Two questions:

I have a Rainbow 2 speed that is almost three years old. I've taken care of it and use it pretty often. I've yet to change the hepa filter because its STILL snow white, perhaps because I change the water frequently while vacuuming. I took the hepa filter off the other day to check it and you kind of can see inside the machine somewhat and I noticed a "white haze" that reminded me of "humidifier dust" when using a humidifier with hard water it will create a white dust all over everything. This never occurred to me when using the Rainbow since some water does evaporate. Other than the white haze, it looked super clean inside, no dirt, no bad smell etc. Is the white haze I'm seeing mineral deposits?

2nd question: I also have a Kenmore Can. I LOVE these vacuums but notice a flaw in them that where the quick release wand meets the power head, over time will short out and stop working. Same can be said with the handle releasing from the wand. I've had 2 Kenmore can's do this to me after only 2 years. Otherwise, they work great. I don't repair vacuums but was wondering if this ever happens to my current kenmore can, is this something I can fix easily and cheaply? Thanks :)

If the problem on your Kenmore cannister is with the sockit
on the hose. where the prongs coming up the wands connect the
current to the hose wires. The only fix is a new hose for bucks. Just can't remember how much at the moment. I have a red machine that a friend gave to me for that very reason.
I decided a new hose was too expensive. So use it to clean
my car. Parted the power nozzle and wand to another friend
who needed a new one for his New Tone built in. It works
quit well.

Yes, that is what I'm talking about

The prongs that connect to the wand both at the handle to the wand and the want to the power head! I never know which of the two ends went bad on my other Kenmore cans but that was the only issue I've ever had with them. A new hose wouldn't help if the prongs going from the wand to the power head are the problem. One other thing did occur to me. The mini powermate for furniture, the prong broke and wouldn't make a good connection. I glued it with gorilla glue and it has worked ever since.
