Rainbow Serial Numbers

Does anyone know how to decode the serial number on a Rainbow SE vacuum to determine the manufacture date?

The production date is not in the serial number on an SE. The production date is stamped into the main body on the other side of the archway where the serial number is located. 296 would mean second quarter, 1996.
