Hello all, I just bought a Rainbow D4 off of craigslist today. It also came with the floor tool hose, the aqua mate tool, with the sprayer container. It works good, and was 40 dallars. The guy said it was 10 years old. I knew that was a lie because i've seen ten year old rainbows. Based on what i've seen, it looks too be at least from the early 90's. Can someone tell me, Exactly how old this rainbow is, as I don't have any experience with them. Also, can someone tell me if 40 dallars was a good deal for this? It has a couple of scrathes, but nothing major. Thank you!!!!!!

Well if it's a D4 and NOT a D4 SE (Special Edition), then the production of the D4's as far as I know started being made in 1986! Later on they started making the SE models a few years after that, I think. Someone who knows more may chime in.

The entire D4 line up ran from 1986 to 1998.  I'd say that $40 is a great price if the vacuum isn't too filthy and the bearings run smooth.

Ok, I have my email address on my page now. I want to let you know though that I didnt put it on, because of privacy, and I don't want people emailing me messages. I'm not trying to cause a problem, but I hope you understand that I wasn't impressed with your comment- but again-no problems, and please tell me why my address needs to be on my page.

Its the regular rainbow d4. I think that he was tiked off when I said it had to be atleast 20 years old!! I don't think he expected someone like me to know its real age.

Yea. Even people who didn't have a clue about vacuums could tell that the vacuum was older than ten years old. He was also a little rude, because he used it on his throw rug, and when he was done, I took the handle, and he said, "what are you doing". I said, "oh I though i could try it out". He said, "well, I already showed it to you". very rude. Anybody who is selling a vacuum will, or should, know that the buyer will probably want to try it our themselves. Anyway, I am happy with it, despite that small conflict.

yea, mine is the square nozzel model. I would of preffered the newer powerhead design, but oh well, this is the cheapest rainbow i've found on craigslist.

Maybe someone on this forum can recondition it for you? Not sure what they would charge, but they can make it like new. I've seen them do it before!
