Rainbow HEPA filter

So I’ve been wanting to replace my hepa filter on my Rainbow E-series E2 and I’m having a hard time finding a OEM filter. Is there anywhere I could buy one or does anyone have a recommendation of a after market one that’s good?

That HEPA filter looks like you can get a few more years out of it. However if you feel the absolute need to replace it. Most of the after markets on eBay are the same and are of decent quality.

I actually bought the 2 pack. I wasn't expecting them to be that great but surprisngly they feel high quality. Nothing will be as good as OEM.
Goodvac.com or Rainvac.com are best for OEM

Rexair doesn't make their own filters. The ones on Amazon or Ebay are great. They work properly and are cheap enough you can replace them every two years.

Why do I see "genine" or "OEM" with filters for sale to differentiate them from generic? I'm kind of shocked if that's true.

OP that hepa is way past it’s life. My hepa gets clogged and looses airflow well before it even gets to that color.

As for genetic hepa... don’t get them. Your better off running no hepa then generic. The only reason to buy a rainbow is for hepa or the clean smell they leave.

Tekjunkie... how could you say that about generic filters? I have used them for years and had no issues. Hepa is hepa and granted there may be different grades of Hepa, generic Hepa filters I find filter just as good as the OEM, The filter that was in question still has quite a bit of life left in it and if the rainbow is well taken care of and used the way it’s supposed to be used that filter will last a long time. I have seen rainbows come into my shop for service that are are 10 years old and older that still look like they were taken out of the box with a filter still white.

when I took

my rainbow in for service this past spring to the rainbow dealer. He called me and told me mine was the cleanest rainbow (that old) that he had ever seen... He said, "you must not use it very much"

I beg to differ...The other day I used it to vacuum out my garage. I've done all kinds of cleaning with mine over the years. I fill the basin a little over the dome and clean that separator every time, and just wipe it down...I periodically take out my HEPA to inspect it/smell it...It smells clean of Rainbow exhaust and doesn't have any brown color.

Who makes Rainbow HEPA filters and why doesn't Rexair make them? That seems weird to me. They design/create everything in their factory but they don't make the HEPA filters?

Mike aka Electroluxxx is a rainbow authorized dealer I wouldn't trust him. Tom aka dysonman owns the vacuum cleaner museum and probably was a dealer I wouldn't trust him either.
Have you tried cleaning your filter? I've seen a few the white may fade but they're the thickest filter and best i have seen or used.
I'm no dealer or vacuum shop owner I wouldn't trust me either.

ha, okay, so Les, anyone who has a Rainbow or was a seller/dealer for them is not to be trusted on Rainbow hepa bag advice??? then who is trustworthy on Rainbows? people who DONT own one or use one?

Rexair doesn't make a lot of things that go into their machine. No manufacturer does any longer. For example, the cord. They don't string copper wires into cords and mold plugs onto the ends. They purchase the cords from "suppliers". They have a HEPA filter supplier, a switch supplier, a dolly caster supplier, brush suppliers, and even motor suppliers (e series). They buy the hose from a supplier. That's just how it is. They don't make the fans for their motor or the bearings. Tons of stuff comes from suppliers.

The molding for the actual body of the machine is something that many manufacturers do themselves on the high end machines. The new sanitaire cordless, entirely made by Tacony (also the Riccar cordless). The vacuum industry is tiny in the grand scheme of things, so many parts are used from a few suppliers that make them to the specs of the manufacturers. It has been a thing for quite awhile now.

I don't know if you got the humor out of Les's post but he was joking. I got it right away and kind of chuckled. Yes, Tom and Chris are correct though, I have a feeling that they get their cords from the same manufacturer that Aerus obtains theirs from, because if you look at the upright Aerus cord and the rainbow cord they are very very similar. Rexair does make a lot of their own stuff in house but there is also a lot that is obtained from other sources as mentioned above.

when you lay it out like that it makes total sense.
So Rexair's supplier would make their HEPA filter to their exact specs? Sort of like when Whirlpool made washers/dryers for Kenmore, they did it to their exact specs.

I guess at first I was just confused because I'm like, if Rexair doesn't make their own HEPA filter, what would be the point of NOT getting a generic one, since neither would be made by Rexair themselves....but I guess the "genuine" filter would be spec'd perfectly.
