Hello all,
I just purchased a vintage Blue Lustre Shampooer 142. It was a commercial rental unit at one time and has the two round brushes on the bottom of the unit that spin around. Since it is a rotary scrubber and not an extraction machine, I am unsure of what type of shampoo to use in it.
I contacted Rug Doctor who purchased Blue Lustre in the 90s, but they have since phased the brand out and basically told me I was out of luck.
Does anyone know what type of solution works best in these machines? Should I use a dry foam shampoo or is the regular solution used in extraction machines acceptable?
Thanks in advance.

Any foaming shampoo will work. Name Brand Kirby is a lot better than the overpriced Aerus stuff put out.

Try going to your local vacuum store and getting some Kwik Suds, that stuff works really well, too.

Update on Blue Lustre Shampooer

Thanks to everyone who offered their advice. I ended up going to the vacuum shop and the only foaming shampoo they had was Kirby, so I went with that. It worked great, even with cool water as the Blue Lustre machine specifies to use. I found some shampoo for dry foam machines by Franklin on Ebay for half the price that I'm going to try next time. I've never been disappointed with the Franklin products I have used so hopefully the carpet shampoo will work well, too.
Thanks again!
