Hello collectors crowd,
after several attempts (WD 40, Pronto, Ajax, Jubilee, Amway and others) I think I have found a very convenient product to keep your appliances nice and shiny:
Hakanet Dusting Aid (agent de dépussièrage, Staubwisch-Hilfe) made by Hakawerk.
(sold DTD, mainly in Germany and France: www.hakawerk.de, www.hakawerk.fr)
Provided your unit of choice is more or less clean of fingerprints, dumpster dirt and other hardcore debris, you may want to use this for a quick buff up for your exhibition, to put things on ebay or simply to save yourself weeks of dusting or buffing work.
Spray, wipe and let dry. Done.
Nicest part: High shine surfaces will be glossy as can be, dull or matté plastics will stay as they are - the same goes for metals (mind you: give it some extra buffing for LCD or smartphone screens).
While the stuff will leave a microscopic protective layer, none of the materials feel "waxy" or "car polished" at all.
Comes in 2 litre bottles, the spray gun is extra. (about 15,- and 3,- each).
I did not trust the stuff first, but it really does keep dust and all other residue away from your machines for weeks on end, so you can dust them up dry with a vac or some feather duster for up to 6 months or more. Only then you need some spraying wipedown again. Your display shelf will look like NIB.
I am very pleased with this and the static cling is gone entirely.
Before selling stuff on ebay and taking pics I use it regularly on the objects to be sold.
Hope someone may find this useful.
