Price comparison between the Miele's and the Shop-vac's

I've been wondering... Why are the Shop-vac's less expensive than the Miele canisters without electric nozzles when the Shop-vac tanks can safely pick up more kinds of debris and are better adapted for cleaning outside, in sheds and in joiners' workshops?

Would there be any reasons to get a Miele instead of a Shop-vac when living at a home without carpets?

Filtration, noise level, ergonomics, and aesthetics. Miele makes vacuums that filter the air better, are quieter, more comfortable to use, and better looking. If you don't care about any of that stuff them save yourself $300+ by buying a Shop Vac, they make a 1.5 gallon all-rounder that's excellent.

As mentioned, noise level is a big one. Also shop vacs have little regard to causing nicks and dings, they can be pretty big and klunky and without rubberized bumpers. Many shop vacs are bagless, so less ideal for those that are allergy prone.

It's all about using the proper tool for the job; choice of tools is yours.

I had a dear friend who would lift up most items, then proceed to use a garden hose with a sprayer to clean his floors. The floors were sloped concrete and the home was laid out shotgun style, so apparently the water (and dirt) just ran out. Not my choice of tools, but to each his own.

I feel you will need to own both machines, and use them for their intended purposes ~

It's like comparing a Porsche to a dump truck. They are vastly different vacuums built for vastly different purposes. I mean if you want to use a construction vacuum as a daily driver in your home, sure, but it will be obnoxiously cumbersome, loud, dusty, and smelly and all the onboard tools will barely function in a home setting. Just too big and ill-equipped.

If you want a cheap canister vac for your home, look for something from the 80's or 90s.

Get a Sanitaire Mighty Mite, good power, usability, durability and low cost.

Then Speedqueen, are there special bags for the Mighty Mite which let the user pick up drywall dust without problems?

And Huskyvacs, if the Shop-vac attachments are of poor quality, then would a Shop-vac clean the kitchen floor better with certain accessories from Wessel Werk?
