Been having a play about with a portugese colleague about the values of UK vs Portugese cars (£500 Ford Cougar v6 here vs €4,500 over there), and I asked what the portugese word for Hoover was.

He sent me a link to the listings, and there's some lovely little gems listed!

(Not put this in contempory or vintage as their all over the place.

So, first off we have:

An old Numatic for €50. Is this a large NVQ250?

Next, a lovely Hoover Freedom open to offers:

"Brand Hoover. Compact, robust and lightweight. The tubes are aluminum reinforced. It has all the accessories and they are all in good condition . The working perfectly. Was revised and cleaning complete. Negotiable. I accept exchanges for collection credifones, bike in need of some repair, among other things. Make an offer. Reason: change for housing with vacuum central . "

Googel translate working well!

Hoovers

Sam

Always interesting to see what other countries have on offer.

Junior looks like a U1012.

There has been an identical Sensortronic on ebay UK for weeks now although its not fully functioning and quite expensive for what it is

I'll stop now, must get on with some work but could carry on all day. Polti and rainbow seem to be popular over there too!

How many of the Hoovers were actually made there, or would they have been sold by distributors, bought from UK/US/France?

More Hoover

I don't believe they had a Portuguese production facility so I reckon it would be UK or France. Bit surprised to see a Junior there as I would have thought Portugal would be like Spain where tiled floor with rugs are more popular than fitted carpet, leading to more cylinders than uprights

Did they do the NVQ250 in small medium and large then? Only seen the small one tbh! My colleague says hes only seen 1 or 2 henrys over there, maybe Numatic arent too big in portugal!

Here's the link to the site, it's on page 12 but just go back to page 1. If you use google chrome it'll auto translate it for you too!
