Hello All,
Not sure this belongs in this category or where. My dad installed this in 1961. I guess it glamorized the space under the sink LOL. Not at all like what is sold today. I remember when all our washing machines and dryers back then where "Lady Kenmore". I believe Sears might have dropped or stopped using "Lady Kenmore" in the 70's? That machine is long gone now but it definitely reflected the style of the time.
There are a few things I do not want and this is one of them. If someone wants it please let me know.
Thank you for looking,
Pete

The Lady Kenmore brand was alive and well into the 1990s.

I have a Lady Kenmore glass top range in my kitchen that my parents bought new in 1993 or maybe '94, back when that was a new and novel thing. They liked it so well that they took it with them when they moved in 1997 and brought the GE range from the new house back to the old one. They got 20+ years of use out of it and then replaced it when the oven controls started malfunctioning. I took it to replace the 30-year-old GE that was at my house and got it fixed under my home warranty. I got the main circuit board rebuilt and now It works like new again.

The thing I've never understood is what's the difference between a regular Kenmore and a Lady Kenmore. Was one more of an upscale model? Did it have design features intended to appeal to women? Or was it all just a marketing gimmick?

I dont see

Anything incorrect about Lady Kenmore, no more than I see anything wrong with a woman being an actress, etc, To call a lady a actor borderlines on the silly I think, This "correctness" is just that, silly.I was brought up to say yes sir and yes maam etc.

Personally, I do believe in Political Correctness and Inclusive Language.

However, I do believe times were different when Lady Kenmore was a product name. I enjoy reading old manuals of machines but as I have aged and now realize the importance of Equality the hair on my neck raises when I hear male exclusive language being used.

I find some of the old Hoover Vacuum manuals very offensive as they refer to have the servant (or slave is what is was referring to) to empty the dust bag often. Something that in this day and age is not acceptable on any level.

I agree with that, Morgan

References to slaves, etc, is awful. A lot of ads did those kinds of things. Domestic help, maids, housekeepers, etc, is very different from that (Hoover ad) "... gots the Hoovah".
But, I don't use male exclusive language. But, if you are a woman, I see nothing bad about saying waitress.....

I remember my aunt having a Lady Kenmore washer.

Lady Kenmore was top of the line, it went away in the 90s as mentioned and today's Kenmore Elite is what replaced it. It was kind of like the large appliance equivalent of Sears Best they used on vacuums.

Oh great, we have Elitist now

Hello All,
So now we have gone from Lady to Elitist, oh I mean Elite. Where is all this bad PC going to take us?
Thank you for looking,
Pete
Drat, I think my last name start with a C.

Where is all this bad PC going to take us?

Straight to a crumbling society filled with people who feel it is their right not to be offended...

Sadly I've only got one "Lady Kenmore" in my collection as of now, but it is a doozy!
