Hi everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know I've completed my first (more to come) of updates to make the forum even better and more powerful.

The first change will only effect upgraded members. Now when you press the PLUSH indicator button from any of the Index Pages you will be brought into the thread just like before, but only the replies you haven't see yet will be loaded. So what that means is lets say you are following a long thread of over 100 posts and two people have added replies since the last time you checked that thread, it will only load the two new posts.

If you wish to load the entire thread, either use the WASH or SPIN buttons or simply click the new link under the title of the thread (see image below).

Please let me know if you spot anything unusual or any bugs associated with this change.

What do you all think of this BIG change? Questions? Comments? I'd like to hear all.

Thanks again everyone.

hi Robert!

You're always making this site even better day by day!

My only quarrel is that I am on mobile, in the form of a tablet, and do not notice these changes, my threads do not instantly load to the new replies, instead loading a whole thread and forcing me to scroll to the new replies, but I'm sure that's part of this update.

Thanks!

-Alex.

update,

The feature appears to be working on-and-off, esp. In the vintage and contemporary forums.

Also, on the way to click this thread, I accidentally hit 'Mark all threads in all forums as SHAG', what is the point of this function? And is there a way to undo it?

I actually really enjoy this new feature. It really helps with filtering new replies.

However, for Upgraded Members, could there be a way to disable the "Mark all threads in all forums as: SHAG (Not Read)" link? It's frustrating when I'm using the desktop version on my iPad and accidentally hit that button. Or, maybe a dialogue box that says, "Are you sure you want do to this?" Now I don't remember which posts I viewed!

Just a suggestion.

Can I ask what platform you run this forum on? I never saw anything like it.

That's because I wrote it completely from scratch myself :-). It's written in Perl, run on a Apache server.

That explains it then!

I don't suppose you happen to know anything about MVP and OOP programming?

Well OOP is object oriented programming and that is how this site is written (for the most part), but I've never heard of MVP.

Unimatic1140, I just checked my emails, I meant MVC, but the OOP is right. We have an Open Cart installation that is giving some errors, and it is so heavily modified that even the OC author, who also wrote the mod that is throwing the errors couldn't fix it.

OOP is beyond me, (html in Notepad is about my level). I have two decent tech chaps who both say OOP is not their forte and suggested rather than they tinker, to find an OOP guy.

I am not sure if you do outside work, but if you do, you'll have my email from the backside here. Please get in touch if this is down your street.

Sorry for the off topic.
