Well it appears there was another major outage out the data-center in Porvo Utah where automaticwasher and vacuumland are hosted at Hostgator. We were down for about 12 hours annoyingly.

Unfortunately when an ISP goes dark as our's did there is nothing I can do but wait for them to get the problem fixed on their end.

It does however make me nervous that this is the 3rd outage in 12 months, so I probably will start doing some research into moving the sites to a new provider. However this is a long process and still a gamble, unless you are a huge service such as google, yahoo or eBay and can afford to have have thousands of backup/mirror servers, outages like this can happen at any provider.

Again I do apologize for any inconvenience of the down time. Later on today, for upgraded members, I will write a script to add a week to everyone's days counter to try to offset some of the inconvenience.

Again I appreciate everyone's support of the sites.

Now back to washing, vacuuming (and for me bed :-)

Thanks for keeping us informed - it was a long period of outage, but the site has been fairly reliable over the couple of years I've been using it. There was the odd problem last night (GMT) when the site crashed out with a "software error" when trying to post directly without previewing. I had to backup the page and try again a couple of times before it posted successfully.

I thought you may have been working on the coding or something.

Really miss the site when its offline!

You dont know what tou've got till its gone

Can only repeat what others have said above - actually I did not find it down the whole of yesterday, but had intermittent problems.

Speaking for myself as an up-graded member, the cost of subscription to Vacuumland and AW is such stonkingly good value that I don't feel an necessity for down time to be added by to my days although I do appreciate the offer

Very true VacBear - seeing as it only costs $12 a year, there's really no excuse why everyone that uses VL shouldn't be paying it

These things happen, no apologies are necessary!  If anything, it makes me appreciate VL more when it comes back online again.

Robert,

While the site was missed during it's slight absence, it is still such a wonderful and grand place, we appreciate all the work you've put into the site.

I would, however, like to report a slight glitch. Under the 'member's profiles' section, style
While upgraded members are all in order, Junior members are not mentioned at all.

Also, upon hitting the 'switch advanced text editing bar OFF' bar, your post is automatically forced into

'Preview mode', with no option to 'post without previewing'.

But still a great site!

PS-I'm betting Automatic Washer.org came before vacuumland? Thus no neat vacuum moving occurs?

Had to hang the washing up

LOL, Sam, your post did make me giggle! In all fairness, you really should have been hanging the washing up in the first place, shouldn't you? Failing that, you could've done some actual vacuuming instead of just talking about them? I know, even the notion!!

I didn't even notice the site was down until I started getting messages on Facebook and texts asking me to try and view it.

I'm with the majority, the cost of membership is minimal and worth it, even with downtime, but big thank you to Robert for the extra week. It was not necessary, but much appreciated all the same.
