Okay like I am out of room but I always find a place for more. My neighbor's house is huge and empty and has been for the last fifteen years and the front door is unlocked, so like I might get a new pad lock and move more into it. No one will ever know lol. I would never really do that.
Anyhow, this first picture is of my new GE Reach Easy. It's in good condition but has no hose or any other attachments but that okay becaues I have a hose that will work. The others are the first and second models of Oreck. The one on the left is the 1964 Oreck CVR 4000 which was the transition from the CVR Whrilpool to the Oreck. The one on the right is the first 1964 Oreck XL 4000. As you cann see there is a slight difference in color. The black hood in front was something I found at Jason's house and he told me to take it. It's the third model. The hood and handel were the only parts to this one but. All of the early Oreck info is what I was told, I have no idea if it's right. No one really seems to have much info on the Oreck's from the 60's through the late 70's. I like these just because they are kind of cute and something different to add to the collection.

Nice machines! I love these older Orecks, but I don't know much about them. I also love the old style Oreck logo.

The real treasures

I have wanted all three of these for a long time and I got them all in the same weekend!!! They still need to be cleaned and serviced and I will take pics of that when I get to it later this week. The 63 is really nice. The red one is a metal based machine that you don't see or hear much about.
And of coarse there is the bicentennial Liberty Bell Convertible. All three of these seem to be all original except the 63 has a brown replacment cord.

And I forgot to mention that both of the Oreck's above came from the same place ( not the same place as the Convertibles, I meant I got two Oreck's from the same place) They came to me a while ago (a couple of months) the Hoovers came to me this weekend.

Thanks!! I like the older style logo too. I like oreck to an extent. They have there place in the vacuum world too and can be fun to play with from time to time.
I LOVE my new Dutch Tech canister, WOW what power!

While I have a few older Oreck Uprights (early 90s), my best Oreck is this beast show below. The pn is 17 inches wide, has been produced probably since the whirlpool days, and is still made to my knowledge.

By the way, how rare are those Liberty Bell Convertibles? I'd guess that's probably the rarest of the entire lot, as I have seen very few people post pictures of them.

Just a reminder to all: large Oreck canisters on wheels (not the mini, "hang by the shoulder" ones) are usually made by Philips of the Netherlands. That's why some are called the Dutch Tech.

was made for the bicentennial: hence, the rarity. I have the "other" one. It is the exact same, except the bag is plaid. Great finds!!

Philip, I love those early Orecks. I was lucky enough to tour the Oreck factory in Biloxi, Mississippi 5 years ago, and meet Tom Oreck who is now the CEO of the company. He told me quite a bit about his father's acquisition and the early days of Oreck. As you mentioned before, the CVR-4000 was manufactured right after Whirlpool dropped their vacuum line and sold it to Mr. Oreck. With Whirlpool's help, Oreck designed the machine, and there was a Whirlpool CVR 1000, 2000, and 3000 (I have a CVR-3000 it has a metal base and a toggle switch in the handle) consecutively. When the changeover was made to Oreck, the CVR-4000 was made in West Germany by a company called McDonald Electric. It wasn't until the mid-1970's when Bissell began manufacturing cleaners for Oreck that production resumed here in the states. Unfortunately, because they were manufactured by McDonald Electric, parts are NLA for these machines through Oreck. Bags were discontinued about 3-4 years ago.

I haven't noticed any bearing noise with mine. It's really quiet. The Convertible seems to be rare but not one of the rarest, I wouldn't think. I have seen about 6 in total.
John, I did't realize the other convertible like that was also a bicentennial. I have it too (with the plad bag) it's a U4099
I can't remember the model of the liberty bell one, maybe U4085?

I especialy like the Bicentennial,and the red Convertible.Does the red one have a type A bag? I really like the bag to.

yep, type A slide in bag. I can't wait to get these cleaned up. Maybe tomorrow
